Fifth Month Visit

Friday, June 13th, 2008

The young lady was not as enthusiastic as we were… She was a little bit distant. Actually the last time I went to see her  she had been like that too: ‘I don’t care about you guys, leave me alone, I’m eating’. Well nothing bad, she is just shy and she’ll have a lot of attention when she’ll be there. But she won’t be a very gluey pony, she is pretty independent. I guess she is just like that. But after touching her everywhere she started to give up going away from us and was more relaxed.

Unfortunately she won’t be there at the end of this month but in one month. Not that bad, Amelia and her are doing great so it can wait a little bit. It will just be hard for me!

3 Months And A Half

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Today I visited Ole with MY mom.

It was something kind of important to me in one hand because it had been 1 month I hadn’t seen her and in the other hand because my mom is the one I annoyed with my ‘I WANNA POONEEH!!!!’.

Well it’s done now and mom went out of the pasture pretty quickly (she is not really a horsey person). Beside that Ole is doing great. When I saw the last pictures Lisa sent me of her, I was a little bit worried. She looked very big and horsy. But not at all, she is everything like a pony: a nice little pony face, not too big (even a little bit smaller than Jack at the same age according to Lisa). So everything is fine!

She has such a weird color though! After having a mule color she is now starting to look like a very sooty buckskin. Odd. Well, we’ll see. It doesn’t really matter to me she can be any color she wants to be if she can jump. :)

Voilà! Next visit very soon with Leo right before our trip to France

The Second Time We Went

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Here we go again, one month went since the first time I met her. And, oh my, she is a TANK! I love it! She is being prettier and prettier. Apparently, mommy’s milk is pretty healthy! She jumps the ditch in her pasture from time to time. She has a great canter and even a nice trot. I wasn’t expecting that much, so that’s quite a nice surprise.

And yet it has been decided that she would come down to the bay area in September. It’s a long time to go but she is very good at Lisa’s and a new visit is already scheduled for August with my mom.

The First Time We Met

Friday, June 13th, 2008

We arrived at Yuba City Friday night and after a short night, at 9am we were at Lisa’s.

I recognized the beast from the driveway. A quick “Hi” to Lisa and we went to see the filly from a closer look. There was not much to say, she was just 1 week old and still a little bit folded. But nothing was wrong, I liked everything about her: shoulder, neck, bone… Actually she wasn’t very girlie and this might be why I liked her so much.

The day after that I took a plane for France and I had 2 long weeks to think about it, 2 long weeks to count, 2 long weeks to dream…

Once back in San Francisco I sent the check and the contract back to Mary. Easy as pie. That’s a new life starting on the other side of the earth. Who knew I was going to have my first very own pony here? Anyway, it’s a lot of fun!

Everything’s Started…

Friday, June 13th, 2008

… the April 27th 2007 around 9:40am when Oleander showed up. I was looking pretty closely at the mailing-list to know how Amelia’s foaling was doing and there it was, Lisa noticed us Amelia gave birth to a beautiful big filly. I was still in contact with Mary P. at this point (Wildwych Stud) because I was looking for a pony of any age and she was Ole’s owner.

At the beginning, I would have preferred a colt. I always had strong relationships with geldings and stallions so I was looking for the same feeling with my own pony. I really didn’t want a bitchy mare who wouldn’t have wanted to work when it was time to do so. How stupid I felt when I understood I really liked this mule colored filly. So we talked about it with Mary and I decided to go and have a look at her.

So I went all the way to Browns Valley driving the SUV with hubby in the trunk. I didn’t have anything to lose and I wanted to see Eclipse and Jack anyway.
